The demographic of today’s Delaware County tourist has changed over the last five years. That demographic is younger, affluent, educated and looking for immersion experiences. In response, Delaware County agritourism focused businesses are offering just that.
Chamber President Ray Pucci spoke on the issue and was among the 16 panel experts presenting an informational workshop about the current state and future trends in farming at the 15th Annual Catskill Regional Agricultural Conference, held at SUNY Delhi on Jan. 11.
In collaboration with Cooperative Extension of Delaware County, which provides farmer resources, the Chamber highlighted past successes in marketing as the county’s designated tourism promotion agency, as well as future plans including Delaware County farmers’ participation in the 2018 Family Farm Day on August 25, as well as other agritourism related events.
